Well, it’s about time, isn’t it?
Among the denizens of the Want Midna Back community, it was decided that the main site was in need of a revamp. Now, here we are, ten months and a handful of promised dates later. Welcome to [the now long overdue] WMB 2.0.
Right off the bat, you’ll notice that the navigational tools of the site have become much more compact. Including a dropdown menu within three of the main navigation buttons has made traversing the site a far more intuitive experience. Additionally, some of the more commonly visited pages of the original site (as well as a couple of new pages) are easily accessible via the left sidebar.
Here’s a godsend for you: the site finally includes social features! Not only are the links to our Facebook and Twitter pages available on the aforementioned sidebar (with a feed of the latter’s updates featured below), but you also have the ability to Like, Tweet, and/or comment on news posts.
Want Midna Back currently has a number of projects that are on the to-do list. However, in order to direct special attention towards those that have been particularly active as of late, we’ve included a slideshow below the main navigation bar. Through this, you will be able to have an in-depth look at some of the movement’s more pertinent endeavors.
More than just an aesthetic and navigational overhaul, though, this re-launch represents a tremendous turning point for the way in which the site is maintained. Throughout the initial site’s run, the main page would be updated with a new post once every few months, on average. This time around, the article-writing staff and I are going to make a concerted effort to ensure that the site is updated with quality content at least five times each week. Expect to hear more specific details next week, when we begin our regular stream of updates.
Finally, I would like to give credit where credit is due, considering that my physical contribution to this project has been minimal at best:
Thank you, Yitik, for green-lighting this project in the first place.
Thank you, Hylian1_RFDB, for getting this thing off the ground after numerous setbacks. Thank you for testing every WordPress theme that you could find, and for doing much of the heavy lifting on the technical side.
Thank you, Foxtrot, for providing all of the side bar material, and for enduring my two-week-long barrage of private messages. You sure do know how to manipulate a WordPress theme!
Thank you, Vanadium, for applying your encyclopedic knowledge of fonts to the site — particularly that navigation bar.
Thank you, TheSkyIsUp, for creating concept images for the project early on.
Thank you, Aldon, for taking the time to draw this Fall-themed banner. ‘Tis infectiously adorable.
Thank you, Cryzeu, for providing these wonderful slideshow images. I promise, we’ll use this banner next Summer!
Thank you, Centralservices, LongLiveMidna, LightWorldMidna, Xytox, and Twist, for signing on to write for the site.
Thank you, Legendboy, for creating the featured image of this news post. I realize that this was intended to be used as the banner of the WMB Facebook page, but, hey, this works!
Thank you, FreezeFlame, for finishing the WordPress transfer. I never thought that it was going to be this difficult.
Thank you, everyone who has kept the forum active in the meantime. Without your support, I am not sure if I would’ve even considered this project to be worthwhile.
