@ CS

The Star Trek had TV.... The Star Wars has novels.

That's right. NOVELS. Seriously, I DARE you to read all of them! You can't. There's way to many. =O

Meh, the novels were after the fact. Most of the ones I read seemed much more like fanfiction than a legitimate continuation of the saga. Star Trek was the TV series, with the movies as a kind of punctuation every once in a while. Star Wars was the movies, in my eyes.

I must confess: I'm a sci-bi. I really like both, even though I might be leaning toward Star Trek, simply because it has more movies and can entertain a person for longer. As CS said, the books are too much like fanfics, whereas I know of at least one Star Trek book which I haven't read, but it's "To Reign in Hell," and it tells the untold story of Khan's exile, which is probably a pretty good and emotional story.

Another thing: CS, Star Trek also has "I am your father." Just saying.

And I agree with Kyle a bit here: some of the TNG episodes are a bit too melodramatic, and are a large part of the reason why so many people claim to hate Star Trek.

Odolwa, it may indeed, but it's nowhere near as iconic as the "I am your father" in Star Wars. It's like the "Live long and prosper" of the series; if you know one quote from Star Wars, that is probably it.

Personally, I can't stand star trek.
And this is gonna be damn good, it's my hundredth post.
Star Trek has strange men (and women) in spandex body suits and weird hairdos. And some of them has pointy ears >.> And are weird. Overall. It's too much, too long, too many.
Meanwhile, Star Wars is freakin' EPIC. Who can beat lightsabers? The story of Anakin Skywalker? The outfits? The Storm/Clonetroopers! DARTH VADER! CHEWBACCA! It's nonstop action. You've got Episodes 1-6, a few cartoons, and books. Which is win with me.
So, good people of WMB, you now know my standings. And I apologize to you Trekkies.

The Star Trek fans are waaayy more hardcore than the Star Wars failures.
Their cosplays are better & They know how to speak clingon. Bitches.

Post Re: Star Wars vs Star Trek: It's Nerd Time
To put it bluntly, I'm not very fond of Star Trek. Maybe it's the silly uniforms, the time they spend in the Enterprise, or simply anything Spock - if anything, I'd watch ONLY the new 2009 movie. I'm not prepared to watch the hundreds of ol' episodes, both original and Next Generation. Besides, I side with Star Wars because I actually watched the whole saga and loved it. Sure, C3PO and R2D2 are annoying (particularly in the Prequel Trilogy), and Han Solo would definitely shoot first (sorry), but I like how the story goes, I get goosebumps when watching the lightsaber duels (my favorite must be Obi-Wan vs. Anakin in Episode III), and hey, Darth Vader's a proud father! Er...I do have to say that seeing humans and aliens talking each other with different languages like it's nothing new for them makes me feels silly... But bah. May the force be with you.

for now im gonna say star wars because alot of it stuck to teh rest of the movies. in star trek, the ship would be hit with a laser from another ship ONCE and then shields would be down to 20%. in another movie they would be hit with a laser from another ship ONCE and shields would be doown to 80%. plus either way sparks would fly out of nowhere all over the place in the command deck too. i still like star trek though, but i dont seem like as much of a fan as i could.
