Post Favorite And Least Favorite Christmas Carols
Well, since I haven't seen anything about a Christmas subforum coming up this time, I'll go ahead and stick this in music before I completely forget my idea.

Some Christmas songs get a little annoying year after year. Some might be annoying straight away. I'm all for Christmas spirit, and that's why I sing along anyway, but Frosty The Snowman, for instance, annoys me when it's not me singing it with the choir. I'm not even sure exactly why. I can't find anything in particular to criticize. It just annoys me.

But so I this topic doesn't become a big ball of negativity, I'll make it a place for carols you do like too. I've acquired a liking for Silver Bells lately, for example.

How about the rest of you? Favorite and least favorite carols?

I'm not much of a fan of Christmas Carols. I don't think they're bad, but not very interesting to me. The only one that comes to mind that I do enjoy singing is Sleigh Ride.

Post Re: Favorite And Least Favorite Christmas Carols
I'm going to assume this means Christmas songs as well as carols. Proper carols I'm not much a fan of, since we were practically forced to sing them all the way back in primary. Plus my mum used to take me to Christmas church services, which I, to be fair, really despised. (I was a little kid, it wasn't symbolic to me, it was just boring. Plus I was never religious in the first place)

Christmas Songs, on the other hand? I'm not a Christmas fanatic or anything, but I adore me some Christmas music. Every year we'd have it playing about the house when family visited, and on Christmas day (and apparently unlike most families we never fight over Christmas. I don't get to see the rest of my family much either), so they hold some very good memories for me. Unfortunately over the years I've been getting gradually more and more bah humbug about Christmas (last Christmas was pretty awful, and this year, well... We're not really going to have one), and the constant playing of these songs in shops bugs me something fierce. Sure, play Christmas songs, but not all day everyday from the middle of November. 10th December onwards is fine, in my opinion. (one of my all time biggest gripes is the over-commercialisation and extension of the Christmas season. It's not winter anymore. It's Christmas. But Christmas and New Years to me lasts about a month)

I've been kinda beating around the bush here, but the point I was going to make was that some songs don't mean anything to me anymore, or they just bug me (from hearing them all the time). BUT, I was in the supermarket the other day, and realised that the one song I can think of that has never bugged me, and always gets me into the Christmas spirit is 'Driving Home for Christmas'. I'm not sure I'd call it my favourite, but it's one that probably holds the most memories for me.

Is there a difference between Christmas carols and Christmas songs? I always thought they were synonymous. Yeah, feel free to put Christmas songs or carols.

Angels We Have Heard on High just never gets dull to me. Never. Even with all the religiousness. I was too young to really understand that part way back when, so to me it was just one of those melodies that I connected with joy. And now that I can sing it in Alto, all the better. :D
