I'll agree that it's not as good as yesterdays one, but it sure ain't bad at all. The only thing I would comment on is the frame, which you mentioned too. The texture over it doesn't really add much, I feel. It would probably look better if it was just a color overlay at low opacity or something, to have the frame just be a lighter/darker shade of the same background. Beyond that though, it looks really good. A 1px wide black border at the edges could be nice to make a more clear contour too, but that might not be an objective quality, and rather a subjective one.
I always do that with everything I make and I think it has a kind of neat effect, but yeah, maybe that's just me. :P

Yeah, I wouldn't survive without Photoshop. I've tried Gimp but I can't use that program at all. I didn't give it much of a chance, but yeah. I'll stick with Photoshop. About a drawing, uhm. I don't do lineart when I work. I only make a rough sketch and then I use the selection tool to create refined masks around it of which I then use as guides for shading. I'm too shit to do proper lineart, haha. The only image I have that actually has a solid outline is this one, which you can have no problem at all. It would be much easier if you had Photoshop though, because in that case I could send you the PSD file and you could mess around with all the layers however you want and access the masks, and all kinds of useful stuff. But yeah, this is what I got for now. Maybe you could ask Spooks for something better. :P

DeviantArt's stash system never seems to work the way I expect it to.

Here are the raw URL links, hopefully they work. :P

I'm a bit late in the game to offer this but do you want me to try to make a clean transparent png version of the mask? If you did the images in layers all you'd have to do is swap the mask itself so it's a bit cleaner. Yay or nay?

Ok I did 2 versions. One was via the removal of all of the black, and I added a drop shadow to alleviate the rough edges that happened when I did so. Hopefully the drop shadow isn't too thick. When the image is scaled down, the ugliness of the edges should also be helped quite a bit.

Image

The second version is with the black intact, but in the shape of the mask, rather than just a full black bg. You can use some filters to soften the black, likely (overlays are my favorite), but if not, I think keeping the mask shape is another alternative to consider to make it "pop" more.

Image

Edit: Twist, I did a mockup of the signature with the black-bg mask because I think it looks really cool with the black border thing you did. What do you think? Obviously I don't have the original file so there's a lot of jpg artifact and it didn't come out perfect but it's to give you an example:

Just making suggestions ^_^ I loved the black tribal border ya did, and felt it was a tad out of place with just the low-contrast transparent mask. This way it flows a little better imo, and looks kickass with the bg and colors you picked.

Regardless, glad I could help with getting ya the pngs, and well done with these! :3
