Post Homestuck
LOL Since the rabid fandom that chewed the internet out years ago has started to slow down, I finally think it's safe to bring it up. Without getting my head chopped off.

Homestuck is a webcomic about "a group of teenagers who unwittingly bring about the beginning of the end of the world through the installation of a beta copy of an upcoming computer game". It focuses largely on humor, complex plot (I've been reading for 4 years and still don't really get it) and it's incredibly long at nearly 7,000+ pages, including flash videos and small interactive games.

Has anyone actually read it? What do you think about it, from an outside or inside point of view? Please though, I know nobody likes the fandom, but that's not what I'm asking about. I mean the comic itself lol

Also, the music? Homestuck and it's music are two different things, really. 95% of music is not even used in the comic, and seems to have developed a following of it's own?? So check that out, if you're still even listening.

My sister's been constantly telling me to read it and I don't really care for it. All she's told me is that it's really complex and questioning and that's what makes it great, and honestly, I'd rather just spend a few dozen hours playing Chrono Cross or Xenogears. Both of those games are more complicated than the Zelda timeline, and I'd rather not waste several weeks just reading.

wat

AND YES I KNOW OMG that's really the one thing I can't stand about it. Because it's so complex it always has to be like "ok so this is how it all went down". I'd rather it just be straight story, but I guess with a plot as ridiculous as Homestuck's, you kinda have no choice but to go over things.

It depends on how everything is presented. Xenogears started off fairly simple, giving 2 minutes of background to the world, and then a straightforward story for...8 hours, give or take. That game takes the time to expand on everything that is happening without being overwhelming...at least until disc 2, but that's because everything was rushed.(at least it's rumored to be, because that disc is 50% exposition)

I don't think so. I've only heard it from my sister. I would be in the same boat as you if it weren't for her. I don't go searching for fads, I let them come to me.

how come everything with you is either xenogears, legend of dragoon, or chrono cross lmao

It's full of paradoxes and the destruction and rebuilding of universes, it can't really be explain by just saying "a hundred years ago this one thing happened".

Xenogears was released all at once, for one game. Everything was thought out, and put on the disc, only to be given out once everything was done.

Homestuck is a webcomic, a couple pages a day for the last 5 years. It's alot harder to put out info if everything is still in writing as you speak. Plus, most of the stuff getting explained in the comic is plot twists, which you obviously can't just plop into the beginning.

When it first came about a friend of mine told to to steer clear of it... And I have to say I've complied. Unfortunately the only bit I've really seen is the fandom side and... Well, it's a little off putting at least. From what I've heard it's rather (enter basically any word)-ist (not that I'm saying I definitely agree), I certainly am not persuaded to give it a read.

That's everyone's main problem. I understand not liking it just because it's not your thing, but majority of the time it's "the fandom is annoying". Unless what you're reading is literally the fandom, I don't think they should have any input in your decision.
